Points to Consider in the DRY OUT Process
- No uncontrolled heating should ever be applied.
- The surface of the refractory should not be licked by flames until the initial firing is completed.
- Covers should be open during steam emissions.
- The temperature should not be increased before steam emission ceases.
- The refractory first sweats and then evaporates.
- During dry out, it is essential to have personnel who can intervene promptly if necessary and who are familiar with heating devices.
- During curing, temperature rise, temperature balance, and waiting times should be kept in check in diagrams.
- If there is a stoppage due to malfunction or power outage in the heating devices during curing, all covers are closed to ensure the furnace cools slowly. If power is cut off for any reason and the furnace temperature drops, continue from the dropped temperature stage.
